As a child, I think we all wondered just how Santa Clause managed to deliver all of the correct toys to millions of children around the world, in one night. How can he possibly collect all of those lists, record their toy requests, cross check them with the naughty and nice list, and then sort them by delivery location? Well, luckily, we have the answer to the question that has plagued you since childhood: Data Capture with DataBank.
So you know, data capture is a process you can set up using a combination of different technologies and approaches that deliver accurate, on time information regardless of the original format. With these solutions, you can choose between investing in capture software (running it in-house), Capture-As-A-Service (outsourcing the processes) or a hybrid of both. Santa for instance, chose to use a hybrid of both, enlisting the help of DataBank’s own capture factory, run by our elf division.
When Santa Clause first came to us a few years ago, he had some non-negotiable expectations that his processes needed to meet.
- He had to stay compliant with multiple different country ethic codes and ensure that every child’s address and information was secure
- Each toy request needed to be filed into a single system that the head elf, Mrs. Claus and himself had access to in 12 hours or less
- Workflows needed to be in place that automatically cross checked each toy request with the Naughty or Nice List
- Finally, he needed to be able to access the finished, validated lists on his mobile device as he flew in his sleigh around the world
